T-Bone Steak with Cheesy Seasoned Potatoes
When you think “Food on a Dime”, you don’t think about
T-bone steak. But when I tell you the deal I got at Weis on this steak, you’ll
want to shop there more often. I got this steak for $6.03. Now tell me that
isn’t a great deal. This steak was an absolute treat. I cooked it medium rare,
which made it extremely tender. Steak might be the highlight of this meal, but
you can’t forget about the potatoes. They were soft, full of flavor and topped
with Kraft shredded mozzarella cheese. I know you’re probably wondering where
the vegetables are. I knew all of this would fill the plate and my belly, so I
skipped the vegetables this meal. Feel free to add a side salad to this dish.
If you live in an apartment and don’t have a grill, do like I did and visit a
friend with a grill.
What you will need:
1 T-Bone Steak
4 Potatoes
2 Cups of Shredded Cheese
1 Pack of Hidden Valley Dry Ranch
1 Pack of Good Seasons Italian Seasoning
2 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
2 Tbsp. Onion Powder
Olive Oil
¼ Cup Parmesan Cheese
Salt
Pepper
Instructions:
Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Next,
you’re going to want to wash four potatoes. Cut each potato into wedges. Place
potatoes in a large mixing bowl. Add the packs of Italian seasoning and ranch.
Then add garlic powder, onion powder, and parmesan cheese. After that add
enough olive oil to coat all the potatoes. Mix everything with clean hands. Lay
all the potatoes out on a tray evenly. Place it in oven when it’s preheated and
set a clock for 20 minutes. Now it’s time to turn on the grill. You want a
temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit on the grill. While the grill warms up,
season the steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Feel free to add
whatever seasonings you like on steak. Once the grill is at temperature, place
the steaks on the bottom rack directly in the heat. Sear one side for about 2-3
minutes, and flip. Sear again for about 2-3 minutes and flip for about a minute
to get a nice cross section. I couldn’t get a cross section on both sides. I
didn’t want to overcook the steak. So maybe you can adjust your times if you
want both sides to have one. After that your steak is done.
When the timer goes off for the potatoes, take them out and
check their softness with a knife. If they are soft, add the shredded cheese,
and place back in the oven. At this point you can turn the oven off and just
let the heat melt the cheese. When the cheese is melted you can take the
potatoes out of the oven and serve. Plate the steak and potatoes and you’re
ready to eat.
I know it’s rare that a steak goes on sale, so this is an
occasional thing. I hope you find a deal like this near you. I can recommend
Weis because I haven’t seen a steak sale like this from competitors. Even if
you can’t find a steak at a reasonable price, you still must try these potato
wedges.
