Mac and Cheese with Mom’s Recipe
This dish is special. It brings back memories as a child
when I used to run in from outside knowing mac and cheese was ready. It has
been my favorite meal since the first time I ate it. The cheese sauce is gooey
and just sticks to the noodles making every bite delicious. I also must mention
how inexpensive this meal is and you will be left with leftovers. With these
simple steps and ingredients, you can create this amazing meal.
What you will need:
Bowtie Noodles
1 Bag of Monterey Jack Cheese
1 Bag of Cheddar Jack Cheese
Milk
Flour
Onion
Butter
Instructions:
First boil your noodles in a large pot of water for about
10 minutes. At 10 minutes drain your pasta and set aside. While that is going
on, chop up half an onion into small pieces. In a medium pot on medium heat,
melt 2 ½ tablespoons of butter. Throw your onions into the pot with the butter
and sauté them until they are translucent. Turn the heat down to medium-low and
place 1 tablespoon of flour into the medium pot and mix with the butter and
onions. Slowly pour in 1 ½ cups of milk and stir constantly. Once all the milk
is in, let it heat up a little bit. Slowly start to pour in a bag of Monterey Jack
cheese while stirring constantly. Once the first bag is incorporated start
pouring in your second bag, don’t use the whole bag only go until you’re happy
with the consistency of the cheese sauce. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
a little before you’re done with your cheese sauce and noodles. Combine your
cheese sauce and noodles when done in the large pot you boiled your noodles in. Stir. Place
the mac and cheese in an oven dish, sprinkle some breadcrumbs, and place in the
oven until the top starts to boil. Once that is done take it out of the oven
and you’re ready to serve!
